Engineering Manager

The engineering manager, member of Plant Management Team, is the final responsible to manage the following key areas:

  • Engineering department
  • Engineering projects
  • Long term plant engineering strategy
  • Productivity Pipeline Development (capital projects)
  • Provide Capital Project Management and Project Engineering skills within the CTS Engineering team and Zeebrugge plant team. To prepare and support the capital project initiatives from inception to final site ownership. Primarily supporting the site execution phases using PepsiCo technical standards and business process systems.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • You translate the plant vision, AOP, strategy, and PepsiCo Code of conduct into actions and plans.
  • You lead and own allocated Capital Projects from inception through to handover ensuring key phasing of Projects are identified and worked to, with compliance to PepsiCo project management business process systems and technical/engineering standards
  • You ensure all the capital projects are managed with absolute clarity and accuracy specifically via period update (tracked/reported and controlled) throughout the project lifecycle:Engineering Drawings / Specifications
  • Financial Control / Management
  • Project time plan
  • Act as Interface ("on project" point of contact) for PepsiCo plant with the design, engineering product development and TPG teams in Central Technical Services to enable the execution of the Capital Projects agenda.
  • You lead Project Teams as appropriate for the size of each project ensuring adequate/appropriate resource allocation
  • You lead the PSP and ACP processes to bring together all the elements of the capital plans, working with finance to ensure the Capital allocation and targets are achieved
  • You deliver the execution process to ensure standardised agile and rapid deployment of technical productivity & best practices

Key measures:

  • Adherence to capex specific project measures (as a minimum), improvement as a target.
  • Accuracy of Capital spend management (both capital and expense) to agreed budget and timelines
  • Quality impact of any projects e.g. food safe design, food safety incidents due to project implementation
  • Financial management of projects from $1m to approx $20mm
  • Ensure post project reviews are undertaken - build lessons learnt into project process
  • Adherence to centrelined design and PepsiCo standards

Profile:

  • Industrial engineering degree Translate business strategy in departmental strategies (3Y), action plans and business processes
  • Excellent understanding processes in the food processing industry, experience in a beverage production environment is desirable
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills - Ability to handle multiple work streams over parallel project timelines (individual projects varying between 3-12 months length)
  • Managing turnkey industrial projects
  • Min. 7 years of experience in the processing industries
  • Ability to lead a multi discpline project through to completion, experience of managing or supervising internal teams and external contractors
  • Ability to train and influence others to ensure compliance to business processes, standards, adherence to project timelines and understanding of capital installations
  • Effective decision making & communication abilities
  • Good facilitation skills
  • Frontline experience in running lines, starting up lines is a plus
  • Experience in technical concept as e.g. utility distribution systems, automation concept, process technologies
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Project, CAD)
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Hands-on mentality
