Carrier Management & Procurement Specialist

Kuehne+Nagel is looking for a Carrier Management & Procurement Specialist for its office in Amsterdam (Schiphol).

Your Role

As a Carrier Management & Procurement Specialist, you will ensure that our procurement for Perishable and hard cargo with our subcontractors is market-driven and aligned with our customers’ needs. You will be in charge of the constant analysis of market trends and demands resulting in the ability of providing competitive solutions to the customers, shall be supported by an internal exchange of knowledge and experiences between all teams, such as sales, pricing, gateway team.

Your Responsibilities

• Negotiate terms with subcontractors such as airlines, handling agents and trucking companies for hard cargo and perishable
• Quotation of tenders
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns
• Ensure a smooth information chain between all internal parties and the subcontractors
• First point of contact for escalations with subcontractors
• Ensuring a clear and up-to-date overview of our costs with airlines, handlings agents and trucking companies at all times
• Adhere to existing K + N Guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and Working Instructions
• Adhering to Health and Safety requirements to provide a safe working environment
• Performing any other duties agreed with your manager as and when necessary

Your Skills and Experiences

• Education in Air Transport and/or Air Logistics with a qualification in Logistics, either degree
• Strong understanding of business processes
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint    
• Extensive experience in the Transport and/or Logistics sector, ideally with a focus on Airfreight
• Understand and respect the company confidentiality and compliance regulations (e.g. Code of Conduct)
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Understanding Kuehne + Nagel Operational Air Logistics systems and processes
• Good team player
• Full driver’s license with flexibility to travel
