Jost Group invests in Natural Gas Trucks

Jost Group aims to achieve 200 tractors to natural gas by the end of 2015. The group carries out tests to determine the gas they will choose: liquefied natural gas (LNG) or compressed natural gas (CNG), which each have their advantages and inconvenience. In addition, they also take into account other factors such as costs and taxes abroad.
There are 2 benefits: the group aims to reduce its CO2 emissions, but also the noise from the trucks.
At first, Jost Group wanted to focus on the Lean & Green program (reducing CO2 emissions in the transport and logistics activities by at least 20% within 5 years).
The decrease of noise from engines is however a significant advantage as well. The request comes from Carrefour, one of the biggest customers of Jost Group. Residents around supermarkets often complain about the noise. Carrefour represents 400 to 600 shipments per day. The trucks should be able to drive more during the night.
